나를 지치게 하는 것으로부터 달아나 숨은 적이 있습니다. 긴 시간을 웅크려 있는 동안 곁에 있는 것만으로 위안이 되고 힘이 되는 존재들이 있었습니다.
가족의 품, 사랑하는 반려견 식혜, 따듯한 인정, 눈물 나게 아름다운 풍경까지… 그 존재가 어떤 형태이든 그들의 은근한 위로는 마침내 나에게 평온을 가져다주었습니다.
이번 전시는 고맙고 소중한 장면들을 모아 둔 기록입니다. 전시되어 있는 원화와 드로잉, 손으로 빚고 그린 오브제들을 감상하며 부디 따듯한 위안을 품어 가는 전시가 되길 바랍니다.

2020년 무목적 첫 전시 <위안이 되는 것들>에서는 김혜민 작가의 일러스트 작업뿐 아니라, 30점 이상의 원화와 세라믹 오브젝트를 선보일 예정입니다.

작가가 제주도로 이주하기 전에 그동안의 서울에서의 작업들을 정리하며 앞으로의 나날들과 주변의 소중한 존재들에게 보내는 따뜻한 메시지를 담은 작업들로 작가가 개인적으로 힘든 시기를 보내는 기간에 지치게 하는 것들로부터 달아나 웅크려 있을 때 곁에 있는 것만으로도 위안이 되고 힘이 되는 존재들에 대한 고마운 마음과 그들과 함께한 소중한 장면들에 대한 기록입니다.

There have been times when I have run away and hid from things that wear me out. There were beings who comforted and strengthened me just by being by my side

while I was crouching for a long time.

The arms of the family, the beloved dog Sikhye, warm acknowledgment, and the beautiful scenery that makes you cry…

Whatever form they were, their subtle consolation finally brought me serenity.

This exhibition is a record of those grateful and precious scenes. We hope that it will be an exhibition of warm comfort while appreciating the original paintings, drawings, and hand-drawn objects on display.

In 2020's first non-purpose exhibition <Comfort Things>, not only Kim Hye-min's illustration work, but also more than 30 original paintings and ceramic objects will be showcased.

Before moving to Jeju Island, the artist organizes her previous works in Seoul, and with works that contain warm messages to the future days and precious beings around, run away from the things that make the artist exhausted and crouch during the period of personal hardship. It is a record of gratitude for the beings who are comforting and empowering just to be by your side when you are there and the precious scenes with them.
