Seung Jin Yang: Blowing

양승진은 본연의 기능을 넘어선 규정되지 않은 결과물을 만들어 낸다. 특히 어린이들의 소풍이나 각종 행사에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 풍선이라는 소재를 이용하여 실용적인 디자인을 하고 있다. 어린시절의 추억이 담겨있을 듯 한 풍선은 양승진을 통해 의자나 조명 등으로 변신하게 된다. 전시는 작가의 작업실 일부를 옮겨와, 생각하지 못했던 재료로 제작된 일상 생활의 가구를 제작하는 방식에 대해 소개한다. 직접 만져보고 앉아볼 수 있는 작품을 통해 관람객들에게 즐거움을 전한다. 뿐만 아니라 작품의 기본 유닛을 가지고 직접 디자인해 볼 수 있는 체험의 기회도 부여한다. 이번 전시를 통해 쉽게 터져버릴 것 같은 풍선이 작가에 의해 기능을 부여받아 새롭게 디자인되는 과정을 소개함과 동시에, 상상을 현실로 불러들일 수 있는 사고의 유연함을 얻을 수 있기를 기대한다. 또한 영원히 기억하고 싶은 추억에 대해 다시 한번 떠올려 보는 기회가 되길 바란다.

Yang Seung-jin creates unspecified results beyond its original functions. Especially, it has a practical design using balloons which are often seen in children's picnics and var-ious events. The balloon, which seems to contain memories of childhood, turns into a chair or light through Yang Seung-jin. The exhibition introduces the way of transferring a part of the artist's workshop and making furni-ture of daily life made from unexpected materials. It gives a pleasure to the visitors through works that can be seen by touching and sitting. In addition, it also gives you the opportunity to experience the basic unit of the artwork. Through the exhibition, the opportunities can be given to get the flexibility of thinking that can bring the imagination into reality by the artist with almost bursting balloons. Wish you also have a chance to recall the memories I want to remember forever.
