Retro station

RETRO(레트로)는 과거의 상태로 돌아가거나 그리워하는 것을 의미한다.
수년 전 전자제품을 중심으로 레트로 열풍이 일어났으며, 최근 드라마, 패션, IT, 식음료 등으로까지 확장되었다.

이로써 이제 더 이상 추억하며 그때를 그리워하는 전유물이 아닌, 그 시절을 불러와 행복한 기분을 함께 공유할 수 있는 의사소통의 매개체로 확대되고 있다.

결국 레트로는 처음 경험했던 즐거운 순간, 감동적이었던 기억을 떠올리며 행복과 위로를 받는 것이다.

이번 시몬스 테라스 라운지에서 진행되는 두 번째 전시는 이다. 이 곳은 방문객이 가장 먼저 만나게 되는 첫 번째 공간으로, 시몬스 테라스의 정거장 역할을 한다. 전시는 레트로 게임을 주제로한 아티스트 송호준의 미디어 아트 작품과 사운드 아티스트 DGURU(from IDIOTAPE)의 음악을 들으며, 게임과 함께 과거의 추억을 소환하여 다른 공간으로 이동하기 전

특별한 경험을 제공하고자 한다.

부모님께 선물 받았던 기억, 친구들과 옹기종기 모여 게임을 했던 추억들을 떠올리는 그 시절을 지내온 기성세대들과, 지금은 찾아보기 힘든 레트로 게임을 체험해 보는 신세대들이 함께 즐거움을 공유하는 세대 간 전이 현상을 경험하게 될 것이다.

레트로는 새로운 콘텐츠로 변화되었고, 공간 속에서 각자 경험하며 스스로 레트로에 대한 정의를 내리고 기억하게 된다.

전시 공간을 떠나며 모든 이가 즐거운 경험과 행복한 기억을 가져가길 바란다.

The second exhibition in the Simmons Terrace Lounge is called RETRO STATION. It is the first place that visitors will meet, acting as a station before getting to Simmons Terrace. The exhibition will start by listening to the music of sound artist DGURU(from IDIOTAPE) and the media art works of artist Song Ho-Joon, based on the theme of RETRO game, along with the game that brings back past memories and provide a special experience before moving into another space.

There will be shared pleasure between the older generation who has memories of receiving gifts from their parents and playing games with their friends and the new generation who didn’t really experience RETRO game in the past. RETRO has turned into a new contents, and we will remember and define what RETRO is by our own means after experiencing it. I hope everyone would carry enjoyable experience and happy memory with them when they leave.

작가 송호준은 미디어 아트라는 장르를 통해 테크놀로지와 사람 간의 새로운 내레이션을 제안한다. 이 세상에서 가장 강력한 무기, 방사능 보석, 오픈 소스 인공위성 프로젝트 그리고 <100년에 한 번 깜박이는 LED> 등 극한기술을 이용하고 구현하여 이야기를 만들어 내는 프로젝트들을 해왔으며 최근에는 불확실성, 비인과성 주제로 작업들을 하고 있다. 2013년 4월 19일 카자흐스탄 발사기지에서 개인 위성을 쏘아 올린 퍼포먼스는 현대인의 전신적 한계를 뛰어넘는 예술적 행위로 모두에게 신선한 충격을 던져주었다.

이번 레트로 스테이션에서 선보이는 설치 작품 은 게임 승자를 축하하면서 전시 참가자들에게 즐거운 몰입을 제안한다.

DJ 디 구루 (DJ DGURU from IDIOTAPE)
국내 전자 음악씬의 대부로 불릴 만큼 화려한 경력의 DJ이자 사운드 아티스트이다. 2000년에 데뷔한 그는 2011년 3인조 일렉트로니카 그룹, 이디오테잎(IDIOTAPE)을 결성하면서 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 디구루로 독립 활동 시에는 DJ뿐만 아니라 국내 굴지의 미디어 아티스트들과 협업하면서 그의 실험적인 사운드 아트의 세계를 보여주며 아티스트로서의 행보를 이어가고 있다. Delorean Dream은 작가가 유년 시절 오락실에서 보냈던 즐거운 추억을 떠올리며 작업한 음원이다. 오늘날 현실과 유사한 가상현실적 게임보다 오히려 더 화려한 환상과 꿈의 세계를 여행하게 했던 레트로 게임의 세상, 그 속에 흘러나오던 음조가 관람객들의 심박수를 잠시 전자 리듬으로 뛰게 하길.

Artist Ho-joon Song proposes a new narration between technology and humans through the genre Media Art. He has been working on projects that use and implement extreme technologies such as , ?Radioactivity Jewelry, ?Open Source Satellite Project>, and to create stories. Recently, Song has been working on projects with themes of uncertainty and visa themes. Performance that launched a personal satellite at the launch site in Kazakhstan on April 19, 2013, provided a fresh shock to everyone for its limitless artistic move that transcended the general limits of modern humans. , the installation work at the RETRO station, offers a pleasurable engagement for the show participants as it celebrates the winner of the game.

DJ DGURU (from IDIOTAPE)
He is called ‘the godfather of electronic music scenes in Korea’, and is a DJ and sound artist with a brilliant career. Having made his debut in 2000, he became very popular in 2011 when he formed the three-member Electronica group and the IDIOTAPE (IDIOTAPE). During his independence as a DIGURO, he continued his career as an artist by collaborating with DJs as well as leading media artists in Korea, and is stepping forward as an artist who tries experiments of the sound art world. is a song that the writer worked on by reminiscing memories of his childhood in the arcade. Rather than a virtual reality game similar to today's reality, the world of retro games, which allowed visitors to travel around the world of fantasy and dreams, and the sounds that were playing inside of them, will make viewers' heart beat with electronic rhythms for a while.
