Dambi's tea room

김담비는 담비의 차실이라는 유동적이고 변형되는 공간 안에서 차, 향, 음악, 언어를 통해 인생 무상함과 고요함을 표현하고자 한다. 음악적으로는 우리나라 옛날 문인들이 마음을 닦고자 연주했던 거문고를 배우며, 철학적으로는 일본 다도의 창시자 센노 리큐의 와비사비(わび·さび: 일본의 미의식중 한가지로, 꾸밈이 없고 수수하면서 정적인 것을 지칭)의 영향을 크게 받게 되었다. 해외여행 중 그녀는 실크로드를 타고 러시아 및 동유럽에 들어온 중국 차문화에 푹 빠지게 되었으며 이후, 한국으로 돌아와 중국 다도와 향도를 배웠다. 현재는 서울과 베를린을 기반으로 활동하며, 현대인이 쉽게 잊고 살아갈 수 있는 자연과의 유대를 다시 이어 나가고자 시각을 최대한 배제한 ‘명상 음악 감상회’와 더불어 다른 신체감각을 깨울 수 있는 체험 위주의 워크샵, 전시 및 행사를 기획하고 있다.

Kim Dam-bi presents the meaninglessness and tranquility of life through tea, incense, music and language in a space called Dam-bi’s tearoom, which is changeable and transformative. She learned the geomungo, Korean musical instrument with six strings, which the Korean writers in the old times used to play to cultivate their minds in the field of music and philosophically, she was greatly influenced by the "*Wabisabi of Senno Lique", the founder of the Japanese tea ceremony. Encountering the Chinese tea culture introduced into Russia and Eastern Europe through the Silk Road had her fall into it while traveling aborad and later after coming back to Korea, she learned Chinese tea and incese ceremonies. Currently based on Seoul and Berlin, she is planning the experience-oriented workshops, exhibitions and events to stimulate other physical sensations as well as a " meditation music salon where the vision is blinded in order to have a close bond again with Mothernature that modern people might easily forget.
